MORAIRA
IN A 2CV
TARBENA
BETWEEN VINEYARDS AND MOUNTAINS
A LITTLE BIT OF HEIGHT
My brother could tell you more about it than I can; he's a cycling fanatic. This is where teams from all over the world come to train for the Tour of Spain, which takes place from the end of August to mid-September.
In Moraira, you think you're coming for the beach, but you find yourself caught between the sea and the mountains. Here, you trek through mountain passes; they're steep and climb high. So high, in fact, that it snows some winters.
We will first pass through the Marina Alta towards Jalon, avoiding Teulada and Benissa. After passing the Collado hill, we will discover the Wine Valley.
Then we go back up El Gorgos towards the Col del Ratos and its sharp reliefs for some, dotted with terraces of wine and olive trees for others.
On the return, we head towards Benimarco where we cut through vineyards to end with a road plunging down to the Penon de Ifach, caught between the sea and the vineyards.
Vineyards and mountains to get lost in, a new viewpoint at every turn: more than 20 along the 40km route.
