In 40 years, I have seen many artisans disappear with the arrival of the "chinos" (a local term with no racist connotation), later of a star of Spanish distribution: Ale-Hop.
This journey takes us to Gata de Gorgos and then Jávea to discover the creations of the region's last artisans. Some even have international renown, such as the hat maker Signes and the sculptor Toni Mari.
We will see the work of leather, ceramics, wicker as well as the blacksmiths of Toni Mari in action.
Since SIGNES' manufacturing workshops are not accessible, we will be welcomed at the brand's first store. There, they work like haute couture; everything is offered made-to-measure, and the variations are endless.

Most artisans produce their hats on site. Except for the hatmaker SIGNES, who only makes semi-bespoke hats in his shop.
